Trump Announces Pardons for Reality TV Stars Todd and Julie Chrisley

On Tuesday, former President Donald Trump revealed that he will pardon Todd and Julie Chrisley, stars of the reality television series Chrisley Knows Best. The couple was convicted in 2022 on federal charges of tax evasion and conspiracy to defraud community banks. Since their sentencing, the Chrisley family has lobbied for their release. Last week, Lara Trump—Trump’s daughter-in-law—aired an interview with the Chrisleys’ daughter, Savannah, on her Fox News show.

In a video posted by the White House on X, Trump spoke directly with Savannah Chrisley by phone, telling her: “Your parents are going to be free and clean, and I hope we can do it by tomorrow.” Todd Chrisley had been serving a 12-year sentence, while Julie was sentenced to seven years. Both sentences were later reduced, according to media reports.

Shortly after the call, Savannah posted a video on Instagram recounting the moment she received the news while walking into a Sam’s Club. “So, both of my parents are coming home tonight or tomorrow and I still don’t believe it’s real!” she said, visibly emotional. She expressed deep gratitude to President Trump, her legal team, and others who had supported the family’s efforts. “Forever grateful,” she added.

The Chrisleys were convicted of submitting fraudulent bank documents to secure millions in personal loans from community banks in the Atlanta area—money they allegedly used for luxury cars, real estate, designer clothes, and travel. Their reality show, Chrisley Knows Best, aired for 10 seasons from 2014 to 2023, depicting Todd as a wealthy real estate mogul and family patriarch. A spinoff series, Growing Up Chrisley, aired four seasons from 2019 to 2022.
